RESUMO

Multiplex electronic antigen sensors for detection of SARS-Cov-2 spike glycoproteins and hemagglutinin from influenza A are fabricated using scalable processes for straightforward transition to economical mass-production. The sensors utilize the sensitivity and surface chemistry of a 2D MoS2 transducer for attachment of antibody fragments in a conformation favorable for antigen binding with no need for additional linker molecules. To make the devices, ultra-thin layers (3 nm) of amorphous MoS2 are sputtered over pre-patterned metal electrical contacts on a glass chip at room temperature. The amorphous MoS2 is then laser annealed to create an array of semiconducting 2H-MoS2 transducer regions between metal contacts. The semiconducting crystalline MoS2 region is functionalized with monoclonal antibody fragments complementary to either SARS-CoV-2 S1 spike protein or influenza A hemagglutinin. Quartz crystal microbalance experiments indicate strong binding and maintenance of antigen avidity for antibody fragments bound to MoS2. Electrical resistance measurements of sensors exposed to antigen concentrations ranging from 2-20 000 pg mL-1 reveal selective responses. Sensor architecture is adjusted to produce an array of sensors on a single chip suited for detection of analyte concentrations spanning six orders of magnitude from pg mL-1 to µg mL-1.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Disaster simulation in nursing education has become fairly common, including both single discipline and interprofessional collaborative events. However, there is a distinct lack of information on disaster simulation involving intraprofessional, multilevel nursing students working collaboratively. Our established undergraduate disaster simulation is a required event for our final-semester senior nursing students. To collect baseline information, a quality improvement program was initiated during one simulation, with six graduate family nurse practitioner students involved as on-scene clinicians in the clinical areas. We found that several basic assumptions were incorrect and that adjustments in training were needed to make this collaborative simulation successful.

RESUMO

Enhanced patient outcomes have led the health sciences to seek ways in which to incorporate interprofessional education in their curricula. This article presents a unique and innovative strategy for interprofessional education among nursing, medicine, and pharmacy in a nonacademic health science center setting. Nurse practitioner students from the University of Alabama in Huntsville College of Nursing, medical interns from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, and pharmacy students from Auburn University School of Pharmacy and their respective faculty participated in collaboratively designed simulations and skills experiences.

RESUMO

The current initiative and program evaluation study is a demonstration of the research to practice process in youth-focused psychotherapy. We collaborated within a community-university partnership to create practice and research infrastructure in order to develop, implement, and evaluate two new models of service founded on evidence-based psychotherapeutic practice parameters. The two new service models incorporated validated interventions to address behavior problems in elementary age children, and depression in adolescents, which were delivered in separate but similarly run intensive outpatient programs within a mental health setting. We utilized a rigorous training, technical assistance, fidelity monitoring, and outcome measurement strategy to promote the integrity and quality of services provided. The resultant programs were delivered with acceptable to high fidelity and effects on youth and parenting measures collected during program and from pre to post showed a decrease in targeted problems in youth and positive benefits for families. This initiative and program evaluation adds to the accumulating research-to-practice literature in children's mental health.
